Christmas in Madrid
Madrid Christmas started in the 1920s when Madrid was a mining town run by Oscar Huber. The whole town would decorate homes and businesses with more than 100,000 lights and also created a winter wonderland filled with decorations and blinking lights at the ballpark, Lindsay said.
It is rumored that Walt Disney got his idea for his famed Electrical Parade after seeing Madrid at Christmastime. Another rumor concerning planes. It was said that the Christmas light display was such a gigantic display that airline pilots would divert and fly over Madrid just to see the lights.
In addition to the Christmas lights there is a decorating competition and a parade. Believe us, a parade in Madrid is not your normal parade. Every weekend there will be events including stage coach rides and pictures with Santa Claus at Old West Photography.
